What design settles before anyone writes code

Design settles what each screen shows, in what order, and what happens at each tap or click. We base it on the people who will use your product and what they come to do, and give each task the shortest route we can.

A confusing screen costs far less to fix in a prototype than after launch, so your users try the design on real tasks before any code is written.

The design follows your brand, and we check contrast, text size, and keyboard use as it takes shape. Your developers, or ours, then build from the design files and a short style guide.

Who it’s for
  • You are starting a new product and want to know people can use it before you pay for the build.
  • People find your app or site hard to use, and your team answers the same questions about the same screens.
  • Your own developers are ready to build and need designs and a style guide to work from.
  • Your agency needs design work on a client’s product, ready for your developers or ours to build.

Designs that are tested before your developers build them

  • Notes from talking with the people who will use it, and a list of the tasks they come to do
  • A map of each main task and the shortest route through it
  • A clickable prototype for phone and desktop
  • A round of testing with a few of your users, and the changes that follow
  • Design files and a short style guide your developers can build from
  • Contrast, text size, and keyboard use checked as the design takes shape

Your users shape the design before the files are handed over

  1. Talk with your users

We talk with the people who will use the product, such as your customers or your staff, and list the tasks they come to do.

  2. Map the tasks

For each main task, we map the steps people take and the shortest route through it. You review the map before any screen is designed.

  3. Design the prototype

We design the main screens in your brand and link them into a clickable prototype for phone and desktop.

  4. Test the prototype

A few of your users try the prototype on real tasks. We note where they hesitate or get lost, and change the design to fix it.

  5. Hand over the design

You get the design files and a short style guide. Your developers build from them, or our team does.

How to start and what it costs

Start with a free call about what you want to build. We then write a scope and a price, and you approve them before any build work starts.

UI/UX Design: From $5,000. Typically 2 to 4 weeks, for the research and a clickable prototype.

Your data and what you own

Where is our data stored?
In your own accounts and tools where possible, otherwise in cloud services we set up for your project and name for you before work starts.
What happens to our data when the work ends?
We hand over or delete what we hold, as you choose, and remove our access to your systems.
Who owns the code you write for us?
You own what we write for you; we keep our own pre‑existing components. What you own at the end, such as code, accounts, and content, is agreed in writing for each engagement before work starts.

Questions about UI/UX Design

Can our own developers build from your designs?

Your own developers can build from what Stratyx Ventures designs, using the design files and the short style guide we hand over. Our team can also build it, as we did on Ohana Events.

Who takes part in the research and testing?

Stratyx Ventures works with the people who will use the product: your customers, your staff, or both. We talk with them first, and a few of them later try the clickable prototype on real tasks.

Is accessibility part of the design?

Accessibility is part of every design Stratyx Ventures makes for you. We design for people with low vision and people who don’t use a mouse, and check contrast, text size, and keyboard use as the design takes shape.

Can you redesign a product we already have?

Stratyx Ventures redesigns existing products as well as new ones, starting from the tasks people find hard today. We talk with the people who use it, map where they get stuck, and test the new design with a few of them before anything is rebuilt.

Point us to the tasks your users come to do

Whether the product is new or already live, we start by talking with the people who use it.
